West Suffolk & Buckinghamshire - May/Jun 2015

James travelled on to the UK (via a short break in LA) from Rarotonga arriving a couple of weeks 
before me.  I returned to NZ to finalise my “affairs” and bid farewell to my family ...  

Upon my arrival in London we headed straight to Jenny’s gorgeous farm cottage in Stradishall,  West Suffolk for a couple of nights.  James has been sitting for Jenny for a couple of years (when he is in the UK) and we agreed to pull an over-nighter so she could go north to a Mark Knopfler concert.

In fact, we stayed a couple of nights and had a lovely time.  Jenny has two very chilled, retired Boarder Collies - Trix and May - and some chickens and ducks.  As this was such a pleasant start to my UK 

adventure, I didn’t do too badlywith jetlag - the difference between having time to rest and relax, 

I guess.  James, on the other hand,suffered terribly,picking up a bug that almost (but not on your 

nelly) rendered him incapable of picking me up from Heathrow! 

Next stop - Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire to care for Tilly, the Cocker Spaniel.  Julia, 
Andrew and Sam welcomed us into their home for just over a week whilst they decamped to their
holiday home in Italy. They grow olives and invited us to join them one future November for the harvest and accompanying celebrations (note to self: make note to self!).  Julia is a writer ..... check out her blog at Justjulias.com.  Tilly was no trouble at

 all and took us out every day for a long jaunt in the parks nearby.  The UK does green spaces 
REALLY well so

 there is always somewhere inviting to walk the dog.  James was impressed with the number of Red Kites constantly circling the house.  Apparently they died out not so long ago but now look to be
 making a fine comeback.
