Sharing our Dolce Vita life

May 2015: Time to share our wonderful global life with you ...... house and pet sitting our way around the world as full time professional sitters!  But first a holiday in Rarotonga!  Everyone needs a holiday when ones life IS "one long holiday" right!!?

The view from our deck
We booked our accommodation through Airbnb (check it out if you travel a bit, it is an international accomm booking website that we have used with great success).  We had a recently refurbished cottage on a small block - you can see the view from our deck - just out of the main shops.

Anyway, we spent our week, having hired a scooter, foraging for fresh fruit around the island. Fabulous fresh coconuts for drinking, starfruit, bananas, pawpaw, avocado, passionfruit.

We fished a bit off the wharf and caught some really pretty fish that would have been appropriate in a tank.  We put them back of course but it was fun.  We swam and snorkelled at Blackrock, the water was toasty.
Rarotonga local TV channel had us rolling with laughter - reminiscent of days gone by. Raro is really small and takes just over an hour to ride around the perimeter of the island.  Alternatively, there is a bus - Clockwise or Anticlockwise - which costs $5 per ride.  The currencies are worth the same and you can spend NZ$ on Raro.  Veges and fresh milk are really expensive, fried chicken and chips is not ........ go figure! We loved the simplicity and tranquillity of it.

    1. Watch it buster, I have the power to delete your comments. James also wants you to know that, yes, I did nearly crash into the rental place wall pulling out of the parkway. In my defence, he is much heavier than me :-)
