Family Farewell - Bharatpur, Chitwan Mar 2026

Sunset view from the hotel

We headed back the Bharatpur for 10 days to farewell the family before continuing our journey east.

We took the bike out for a blast to the river at Golaghat.  On the way we stopped at a field and watched a dingo type wild dog.  We thought it was a street dog from far away and tried to offer it some dog biscuits.  It turned tail and took off when we called out.  Continuing onto the river bank we took some time to enjoy the tranquility of nature.  Then hey, presto! There was a wild elephant and her baby grazing not too far away.

Hard to see, but her baby is much whiter than her

James took the opportunity to get a TMT (treatmill test) done at the hospital.  He was scheduled to get one done before we left NZ but the appointment didn't come through before we left the country last July.  There is no schedule here .... if you can afford it.  You just go to the hospital, pay your money (in this case £15), take a seat and someone will be with you shortly.   The staff were efficient and professional, and quite surprised to be working with a western tourist.  The results were quite good so we can relax.

We have taken a few photos to show you the types of vehicles used in Nepal for transporting not only people, but all manor of goods.  We are constantly surprised and amused at what people are prepared to carry on their scooters.

We had our favouite brunch at our favourite restaurant most days.  Washed down with a Dud chia (milky tea).

Samosa chat

And discovered a "new to us" fruit in a friends garden.  It is a Jujube and is similar in taste and texture to a small pear.  Delicious!

On our last day we enjoyed spending time with the family before celebrating the 5th birthday party of our gorgeous boy Sholin.

It was a sad farewell as we are never sure exactly when we will return, but return we certainly will!
