Singapore Sit - Christmas 2023

Marina Bay Sands ... not where we stayed!

We headed back to Singapore on a very comfortable overnight bus for a two week housesit we had booked.  We were able to easily navigate the MRT, having figured out how to purchase a card each, and got off at the nearest stop to our house.  The MRT really is a wonder of modern transportation.

After meeting briefly with Jasper's Dad, he headed off to the airport and a family Christmas in New Zealand.

Jasper

Jasper, our new boss, was a little shy to begin with.  He had had a horrible experience some months before our arrival which saw him loose most of his tail. Nobody knows what actually happened but it was mentioned that he was now quite scared of loud noises and, more specifially, trucks out on the road.  We noticed this too.  We just kept our presence as quiet and calm around him as possible and he soon warmed up.  He would come belting in three times a day howling the house down for some fresh food.  We were always happy to oblige.

The way to a kitties heart ....

The weather in Singapore was oppressively hot.  We were lucky enough to be in a big house with all the windows open and the fans on 24/7.  We also relieved our symptoms with iced tea and coffee always available in the fridge.  The kitchen was an outside one which is common here.

There was also a lovely outdoor area out the front of the house.  Jasper enjoyed this spot too.

We had a BBQ which we were more than happy to utilise for cooking the well priced prawns available at our local shopping centre.

The size of these babies!

Fresh food and eating out in Singapore is very affordable and whilst we were excited to be able to cook our own food after such a long time, it was also easier to pop down the local for a plate of goodness from one of the many local food halls.

We enjoyed not only the prices but the variety of different foods available.

These mushrooms super tasty

James managed to book a slot on a local fishing trip hoping to bring some fresh fish home.  It wasn't to be, but he enjoyed his day out nontheless.

We discovered mangosteens for the first time.

We took the MRT out to Gardens by the Bay and enjoyed a wander around.

Still not sure if these stone animals are carved?

Cool aquarium

We enjoyed relaxing at home for a change but seriously!  The tempurature was oppressively hot.  So much so that James declared he never again wanted to go to a country where the daily temps are above 30 deg C.  Hmmm, we still had a month in Indonesia to go!!!
