The view from our deck |
Anyway, we spent our week, having hired a scooter, foraging for fresh fruit around the island. Fabulous fresh coconuts for drinking, starfruit, bananas, pawpaw, avocado, passionfruit.
We fished a bit off the wharf and caught some really pretty fish that would have been appropriate in a tank. We put them back of course but it was fun. We swam and snorkelled at Blackrock, the water was toasty.
Rarotonga local TV channel had us rolling with laughter - reminiscent of days gone by. Raro is really small and takes just over an hour to ride around the perimeter of the island. Alternatively, there is a bus - Clockwise or Anticlockwise - which costs $5 per ride. The currencies are worth the same and you can spend NZ$ on Raro. Veges and fresh milk are really expensive, fried chicken and chips is not ........ go figure! We loved the simplicity and tranquillity of it.
